Truffle, nature’s diamond in the rough.
 
In the beautiful forests of the Prespa National Park, just a stone’s throw from Florina, guests of The Lynx Mountain Resort will enjoy a unique truffle hunt, taste a delicious truffle pasta in the forest, cooked with the truffles found by the truffle dogs, and learn they will try indigenous mushrooms of the region.
 
The number of edible mushrooms in Greece and especially in Prespes is large, reaching 30 types of edible mushrooms and 7 types of truffles.
 
Follow an unforgettable walking route that will bring you into contact with the unique wild nature of the area. Certified collectors and specially trained dogs will direct you where the scent of a truffle, well hidden in the soil, leads and the hunt begins. The dogs find the truffles and gently dig to get them out of the soil intact.
 
Behind a musky plate of mushrooms, behind flakes of black truffle, there are people who are restlessly waking up, tracking and collecting. Be part of the harvesting process and learn all about hunting for this rare type of mushroom.

Look for birds in the shallow waters of Mikri Prespa, hidden in the reedbeds, in the port of Psarades, in the lakeside forest, in the estuary of the rivulet of Agios Germanos and in the forests of the area. Rare species that are famous among bird watchers are the Silver Pelican, which now breeds in Prespes for a significant proportion of the world’s population, the Rose Pelican, the Goose, the Gray Goose, Mallards and countless others.
